Celebrated a birthday of mine tonight.  Dinner with 4 dear friends.  A little disappointed my meal wasn't gifted to me...a child like assumption works its way out on a birthday, It is like your birthday is a little porthole to previous birthdays.  Remembering different/better times and situations, and noticing how people come and go from the group of close knit ones.

John did pay for a piece of pie for dessert for myself and another Libra lumped into a single dinner party.  Ordered like I was a 1930's woman, and I was given a rich piece of chocolate something.  But I am not much of a chocolate eater, which is well known to John after knowing me 10 years+

Working with the developmentally disabled and their support people can produce ups and downs.  They, the mentally deficient, are a challenge to society.  They are sucking up lots of 'welfare money' that the conservatives pule about.  But they cant take care of themselves, and it is a measure of our humanity to provide the the necessitites to give them the best life they can have.  There is a lot of apathy - the government, providers, and the individuals themselves.  Becomes paralyzing.

My mood music now.

September 15, 2013

Here, some seven weeks later, is the second post.

First I must apologize to the 25 people that read my first post.  I reread it today for the first time and found it stilted and tedious.  Second, how did 25 people come to read that?  The mysteries of the internet.

This long weekend has been devoted to trying to get my yard slightly more in shape.  I had neglected it for a month, and in south Louisiana it doesn't take long for the vegetation to reclaim driveways, flower beds, etc.   My stringer broke a month  ago.  A friend of mine gave me a couple older corded weedeaters.  I will try them out today, but they don't feel any more powerful than my dearly departed Ryobi rechargeable one.

Bye for now, F

July 21, 2013

First post in this experiment for me - It has been occuring to me that I have a some small stories to tell - some about cooking, my life, funny incidents that otherwise seem to slip away in time.  My first thought is that this seems like a waste of my time...  Maybe it will improve, otherwise it will be a short term blog that probably makes up a majority of those out there.

It isn't even 9:00 and the skies have darkened over south Baton Rouge, and thunder is in the distance.  Not at all uncommon occurance in South Louisiana during the summer.  I was planning to do some edging this morning - and by edging I mean trimming the grass overlapping onto the driveway and walks, and not the kinky kind.  Though with the potentially looming rain shower, the latter might be more feasible.

Following the ol comedian's adage of leaving them wanting more, I bit you adieu.
